Add a weigh-in once a week and watch your line against the range recommended for your BMI. Everything stays on your device, and you can export a chart for your next appointment.
How to use the Pregnancy Weight Tracker
- Set your starting pointHeight, pre-pregnancy weight and due date (filled in if saved).
- Add a weigh-in each weekSame day, same time, same scale gives the clearest trend.
- Read the chartThe sage band is your range. The line is you.
- Get a weekly reminderAdd a repeating calendar reminder in one tap.
How it's calculated
The range uses the same IOM 2009 formulas as the Pregnancy Weight Gain Calculator: 0.5–2 kg by week 13, then your BMI group's weekly rate.
Understanding your results
One reading outside the band is rarely meaningful. Look for the trend over 3–4 weeks.
Tips for accurate weigh-ins
- Weigh first thing in the morning after using the bathroom.
- Wear similar clothing each time.
- Put the scale on a hard floor.
How to weigh yourself accurately
- Pick one day of the week and stick to it.
- Weigh first thing in the morning, after using the bathroom and before eating.
- Wear similar clothing (or none) each time.
- Use the same scale on a hard, flat floor (not carpet).
- Record the number and move on. One reading is a data point, not a verdict.
Reading your line
The sage band shows the gain recommended for your pre-pregnancy BMI at each week. Your line shows what's actually happening. Most people zig-zag a little around the band; the direction over three or four weeks matters more than any single weigh-in.
- A flat or falling line in the first trimester is common with nausea. Mention it if you can't keep food or fluids down.
- A steady line inside the band means you're on track.
- A line climbing above the band is worth a gentle review of meals and activity, and a chat at your next appointment.
- A sudden jump within a few days may be fluid rather than fat. See the warning signs below.
Warning signs to act on
Contact your maternity unit the same day if a rapid weight gain comes with swelling of your face, hands or feet, a severe headache, problems with your vision or pain just below your ribs. These can be signs of pre-eclampsia, which needs prompt checking. Call the hospital where you're booked or go to its delivery suite, day or night.
Sharing with your care team
Download a PDF of your chart and weigh-in table to bring to appointments, or export a CSV if your clinic uses its own records. Polyclinics and gynaes weigh you at most visits, so your home readings simply fill in the weeks between. Use the weekly reminder to add a repeating calendar event so you don't forget your weigh-in day.
Your data stays with you
Weigh-ins are stored only in this browser. Use Back up to save a file you can restore later or on another device. Clearing your browser data will erase the tracker, so back up from time to time.
Why weekly, not daily
Daily weight can swing by a kilo or more with fluid, salt, constipation and the time of day. Weighing once a week smooths out that noise so your chart shows the real trend. It's far less stressful, too. Use the repeating calendar reminder to make it a habit.
How your range is calculated
The tracker uses the Institute of Medicine 2009 guidelines. Your pre-pregnancy BMI sets your total recommended gain; the first trimester allows 0.5–2 kg, and the rest is spread evenly from week 13 to week 40. Each weigh-in is placed on the chart at its exact week, calculated from your due date, so you can add past readings in any order.
After birth
Once your baby arrives you won't need this tracker any more. Download your PDF as a record, then use Start over to clear the data. Postpartum weight changes are a different story. Be patient with your body, especially while breastfeeding.
Getting started
Setup takes under a minute: enter your height, your weight just before pregnancy and your due date (filled in automatically if you saved it in the Due Date Calculator). Choose twins if that applies. Then add your first weigh-in, either today's or a past one with its date. From then on, adding a reading takes a few seconds, and your chart, status and weekly pace update instantly.
Units
Switch between kilograms and pounds at any time using the unit button. Everything is stored in metric behind the scenes, so switching only changes how your data is displayed, never the data itself.
Frequently asked questions
Is my data private?
Yes. Weigh-ins are stored only in this browser. Use Export to back them up or move them to another device.
Can I add past weigh-ins?
Yes. Choose the date when you add an entry.
What if I'm having twins?
Choose twins in setup to use the twin ranges.
What if I forgot to weigh myself for a few weeks?
Just add your next weigh-in. The chart joins your points, and the trend still makes sense with gaps.
Can I change my pre-pregnancy weight later?
Yes. Tap Edit setup under the chart. All your weigh-ins are kept and recalculated.
Why does it ask for my due date?
Your due date tells the tracker which week of pregnancy each weigh-in belongs to.
